WHILE YOU’RE HERE... SOME QUITE INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE Bulgarian LANGUAGE

Bulgarian is the official language in the Republic of Bulgaria. With the accession of Bulgaria to the EU in 2007, it became official for the Union, thus introducing the Cyrillic alphabet as the third official alphabet in the Union. Bulgarian is also spoken in Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Macedonia, Romania, Greece, Turkey and by emigrant groups all over the world.

Bulgarians shake their heads when they mean "yes" and nod when they mean "no". Sometimes they reverse these gestures if they know they are speaking to foreigners, thereby complicating the issue further. Emphatic use of the words da (yes) and ne (no) should be enough to avoid misunderstandings.

Bulgarian SAMPLE TEXT
