Douze points for Eurovision British Sign Language Interpreting Star
We hope they invite wonderful British Sign Language interpreter, Adrian Bailey, back for the 2024 Eurovision song contest.
Top British Sign Language interpreter in action
If you didn’t see it last year, do take a look. It’s just fantastic: eurovision-sign-language-interpreter in action.
Captivating Audiences with dynamic presence
While Adrian was one of several BSL interpreters to provide support during the 2024 show, he surely stole the show with his wonderful dynamic and yet somehow personal performance. It was his signing to the Finnish rapper’s “Cha Cha Cha” that caught everybody’s attention.
Translation from Finnish to English of “Cha Cha Cha”
We are still wondering whether Adrian was aware of the meaning of the lyrics. Going By his amazing performance, we feel sure he was…
“Holding on the drinks with both hands tied on them like a
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha, no
There’s no tomorrow when I grab a pint tightly like a
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha, no
Wanna mess my head up and to free my mind of fear like a
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha, no”
A British Sign Language champion for inclusivity and accessibility
Adrian Bailey has definitely found his calling in life. His mesmerising performance that night drew in his audience making them active participants in the communication process rather than passive observers. Deaf and hard-of hearing Eurovision fans demanded that he be given a trophy for bringing them right into the crazy world of Eurovision. Surely he deserved one.
Will the BSL interpreting star be there for Eurovision 2024?
If Adrian can’t make it, we are hoping that the BBC will give one of our own brilliant British Sign Language interpreters a whirl. We have been telling them to start practising the moves so that they can support Olly Alexander with the UK’s 2024 entry, “Dizzy”…
Or you can get in touch with one of our lovely project managers to discuss your own British Sign Language interpreting requirements.
