We work with Polish interpreters based all over the UK, in towns and cities, but also in the more far flung regions of the British countryside. To get an idea of what life is like, being an interpreter in a rural area, one of our Project Management team asked Iwona to describe her experiences interpreting in Herefordshire.
Knockhundred PM: So tell me Iwona, what’s the most interesting thing about your job?
Iwona: Well, I get to meet lots of fascinating people, from all walks of life.
Knockhundred PM: And what kind of assignments do you take on?
Iwona: Well, as you know, it can be almost anything. Sometimes I need to accompany people if they need to see a doctor, or go to hospital. At other times, it may be something to do with someone’s job, where an employer needs a third party to interpret at a meeting with a Polish employee. Finally, there are cases where I’m contacted by the police or by social services. It’s just really varied.
Knockhundred PM: So where might an assignment be?
Iwona: Well, I obviously need my own transport, but I’m able to attend Polish interpreting bookings in all the major towns, throughout the county, Hereford, Bromyard, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye, Kington or Ledbury.
