Portuguese Video SEO

According to CISCO, by the end of 2017, video content will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic. Insivia reports that 55% of people watch videos online every day. Including video in a landing page can increase conversion by 80%.

It is no wonder that Video SEO has become a hot topic.

If you already have Portuguese video content or are thinking of adding Portuguese video content to your site, or having your own YouTube channel, there are various things to bear in mind in terms of video SEO.

Research your keywords – there are free tools available to help you choose them carefully. Ensure your video description and content reflects your choice of keywords.

Search engines can’t watch a Portuguese video or listen to audio, but they do “understand” (and index) text. This is why it is important to upload an aligned, accurate Portuguese transcript to support your video content or to provide Portuguese subtitles or captions. This is how search engines will “hear” your video.

We can provide transcripts or subtitles in any language including Portuguese. Just get in touch to let us know how we can help.

We have formed partnerships with a number of video production companies around the UK who can film and produce a short corporate video for you. Working together with you, we can provide an accompanying transcript or subtitles in any language to fully optimize your video content.

WHILE YOU’RE HERE... SOME QUITE INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE Portuguese LANGUAGE

Portuguese is a Romance language spoken by about 220 million people mainly in Portugal and Brazil (Brasil), and also in Angola, Mozambique (Moçambique), Cape Verde (Cabo Verde), Guinea-Bissau (Guiné-Bissau), São Tomé e Principe, East Timor (Timor-Leste), Equatorial Guinea and Macau. There are also communities of Portuguese speakers in Goa, Daman and Diu in India, and in Malacca in Malaysia. Portuguese is a descendent of Latin, which was brought to the Iberian Peninsula by Roman soldiers, settlers and merchants from 218 BC. The earliest records of a distinctly Portuguese language appear in administrative documents dating from the 9th century AD. In 1290 King Denis decreed that Portuguese, then simply called the "Vulgar language" should be known as the Portuguese language and should be officially used. A reformed Portuguese orthography (nova ortografia), in which words were spelled more in accordance with their pronunciation, was adopted is Portugal in 1916. A slightly modified form was adopted in Brazil in 1943 and revised in 1970. A new orthography which aims to unify the written Portuguese of all the lusophone countries was adopted in Brazil in 2009. Dates have yet to be set for its adoption in the other Portuguese-speaking countries.
